Avetik Issahakian House-Museum was founded in 1963, in the two-storey building where the poet lived from 1947 – 1957. The poet’s personal effects, his sitting room, furniture, library and paintings are exhibited on the first floor. The other showrooms contain documents and photographs dedicated to the life and work of this beloved poet, his belongings, and books. Life time publications and translations of Issahakian’s works in many languages are also exhibited. The principal periods of the poet’s life beginning from 1893 are exposited on the second floor. The exhibition includes 13 thousand items, together with the poet’s personal library of 5 thousand volumes, the pride of the Museum. The most secluded corner in the museum is the poet’s study. The house has a small adjourning garden with the trees planted by Issahakian’s hand.
