The Middle East Museum was founded in 1993, based on a collection donated by Marcos Grigorian, painter, collector and honorary citizen of Yerevan. The Museum displays 2,600 exhibits containing works of Russian, European and Middle Eastern applied arts. In particular the Persian Section is unique and includes objects of Pre-Persian civilizations of the 4-1 millennia B.C. (pottery from Elam, bronze artwork from Luristan and ritual figurines from Suza and Amlal). Persian Pre-Islamic Zoroastrian culture, Islamic culture, Ghadjarac art is on display as well. The exhibits are housed in 4 showrooms entitled Marcos Grigorian, Islamic, Russian and European.
The Museum also has a rich library and video collection.
