Odzun Church (the shrine of St. Hovhannes Odznetsi is next to it)

Day 1. (Saturday)

The first day you will have the chance to discover the Shrine of Mkhitar Gosh (an Armenian saint of XII c., known as the author of the Code and many parables). Meeting with the Diocese representative is also arranged.

9:00 – Prayer and start up
11:00 – Goshavank
13:00 – Lunch in Dilijan
16:00 – Meeting with “Zangakatun” children
18:00 – Vespers and welcome to the Diocese in Vanadzor
20:00 – Dinner in Vanadzor (Tsitsernak)

 

Day 2. (Sunday)

During the second day, you will have the opportunity to participate in the Divine Liturgy and to visit the VI c. church in the village of Odzun, a place of numerous miracles and the birthplace of St. Hovhan Odznetsi (a VII c. catholicos). His shrine we will find in the nearby village. Before returning, you will also visit Haghpat, a famous monastic complex of the XI c. with many marvellous khachkars (cross-stones).

9:00 – Breakfast and prayer
11:00 – Divine Liturgy in Vanadzor
13:30 – Dinner in Vanadzor
15:00 – Odzun
18:00 – Prayer/Vespers in Haghpat
19:00 – Dinner near the Monastery of Haghpat
23:00 – Arrival in Yerevan
