City tour. Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the world (2793 years old). Central streets and avenues of Yerevan, "Cascade" complex - a favorite leisure place of residents and guests, it connects downtown to "Haghtanak" park .Here is also the statue of "Black Cat" by renowned Colombian sculptor Fernando Botero. Visit to Matenadaran-ancient manuscript repository, one of the largest repositories of ancient manuscripts in the world. Currently this establishment possesses 17,000 ancient Armenian manuscripts. Visit to Brandy Factory and tasting different aging cognac. You will be taken to the workshops and basements of the factory, where the secret of making "Sunny drink" will be presented to you. Parajanov museum is one of the most popular museums of Yerevan. Parajanov’s art works-assemblages, flat and three-dimensional collages, drawings, dolls and film sketches amaze with its fantasy and artistry.

3 Echmiadzin, Zvartnots

Echmiatsin ("Vatican" of Armenia). Cathedral of Holy Etchmiatsin - the main religious and administrative center of Armenian Apostolic Church. It was founded on site of Pagan temple by Gregory the Illuminator in 303 A.D. St. Hripsime monastery was built in 618 A.D. This is impressive and majestic building. Ruins of Zvartnots ("church of vigil forces" in Armenian). Construction of Zvartnots began in 641-643 years, and was carried out intermittently for twenty years. The initiator of the construction was Catholicos Nerses III, who involved architectures from ancient Armenian city Dvin (both are in UNESCO World Heritage List).

4 Amberd Fortress Castle, Oshakan

Visit to Amberd fortress.Amberd fortress is located 2,300 meters above sea level, on the slopes of Mt. Aragats, in the Aragatsotn region. In the 10th century it was the military defense center of the Bagratuni and Pahlavuni kingdoms.
Way to Oshakan. Oshakan is most famous as the last resting place of Mesrop Mashtots, founder of the Armenian alphabet. Above his grave (19th c. gravestone) is a church rebuilt by Katholikos George IV in 1875.

5 Haghartsin, Goshavank, Sevan Lake

Visit to Haghartsin Monastery hidden in a grove of ancient trees high up in the mountains. It was built between the 10th and 14th century (in the 12th under Khachatur of Taron); much of it under the patronage of the Bagratuni Dynasty. Lake Sevan - "Blue Pearl" of Armenia is the largest lake in the Caucasus and one of the largest freshwater mountainous lakes in the world. Its area - 1400 square km and is located at an altitude of 1900 m above sea level. The lake is of volcanic formation, and surrounded by mountain ranges that reach up to 3000 m. Visit to Sevanavank monastery (9th c.), located on a peninsula.

6 Khor Virap, Noravank

Departure to Ararat region. Visit to Khor Virap monastery where Grigor Lusavorich (St. Gregory the Illuminator) was imprisoned for 13 years for preaching Christianity. Khor Virap is the most famous pilgrimage site in Armenia. Here is the best view of Biblical Ararat Mountain. According to the Bible, Noah's Ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat after the Great flood.

7 Haghpat, Sanahin

Departure to Lori region.

The Qobayr monastery belongs to a number of remarkable monastery complexes of medieval times. The monastery is situated in the southwestern part of Kobayr railway on the high slopes of Debet canyon. There are some inaccessible caves and shelters among the rocks surrounding the territory of the monastery. Visit to medieval monastic complexes of Haghpat (10th-13th c.) and Sanahin (10th-13th c.) described as “masterpieces of religious architecture and a major educational center in the Middle Ages", both are included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Here are a number of impressive khachkars (cross stones) from the 11th to 13th centuries.

8 Garni, Geghard
  Breakfast at the hotel.

On the way to Garni a short stop at the “Charents Arch”, from where opens a breathtaking view over Ararat valley and Mount Ararat. Garni Temple, the only extant temple in Armenia, dating back to the era of paganism and Hellenism. It was devoted to the pagan god of sun-"Mithra". The temple was built by Greek slaves in 76 B.C. It was the summer residence of Armenian kings over 4 centuries. Gegard monastery - the miracle of Armenian architecture, built in the 13th century. A unique complex of cave structures, located in a picturesque valley (both are in UNESCO World Heritage List).
